Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is a good candidate for Hair Transplantation?

A: It’s important to have a consultation with a Hair Replacement specialist who will determine whether someone is a good candidate for a hair transplant. The end results can also vary from person to person. While hair transplant surgeries look natural, the end result may not yield the density or the total coverage that you had when you were younger.

The single most important thing the doctors need to consider is how bald the patient will become at a later age. With this in mind, he/she can plan the most natural looking hairline and shape – one that will yield the desirable result in the most undetectable and natural hairstyle.

Q: What is the ideal age for Hair Transplantation?

A: According to leading hair transplant specialists, there is no ideal age for hair transplant. Current data shows that the earlier the hair transplantation is performed the easier it is to conceal and allow the patient to save the appearance of a full and natural head of hair. The hair loss consultants and doctors at Truly You

are well trained to educate and assist you in achieving the best possible outcome.

Q: How do you know if you have proper hair density?

A: The density of hair in the patient’s pre-existing donor region will determine how much hair is available for transplantation. The greater the hair density, the more follicles there are available for grafting.

Q: I’m a little confused about grafts

A: A very important point to keep in mind is the volume of hair one can hope to achieve based on the number of grafts. There is only so much donor hair available.

Q: How many grafts will I get?

A: One graft does not mean one hair. The amount of grafts you need depends on how advanced your condition is, how large your head is, and the thickness of your hair. Our physicians will harvest grafts with anywhere from one to five hairs, depending on the area of distribution. 1200 grafts will be able to hold 5000 to 8000 hairs.

Q: How long after my hair transplant will I begin to see hair growth?

A: Generally, you should see some results within 3 to 5 months after the procedure and the number of new hairs will continue to increase for the next 8 to 9 months.

Q: What kind of postoperative care do you offer?

A: Our postoperative care includes bandage removal, washing and cleansing of the scalp, a thorough check of grafts, and the application of a skin revitalizer. To make certain that you understand what to expect, our nurses will meet with you to discuss your home care options. Our doctors will also personally check in with you on the evening of the operation to answer your questions and ease your worry.

Q: How soon can I go back to work after the procedure?

A: Generally, you can return to work within a day or two following your procedure, depending on your type of work you do, and of course, your comfort level. You should not attempt to do any strenuous exercises or lifting for the first two weeks after the procedure is complete.
